Obituary of Ann Hecht Saltzman

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ann Hecht Saltzman March 29, 1933- March 26, 2024 Born in Pittsburgh, Ann and family (parents Ada and Joe Hecht) and sister Judy (Spigelman), spent WWII in Muskegon MI, before moving to Beverly Hills in 1948. Enrolled at Beverly Hills High and Wilshire Blvd Temple (Member for 76 years) where she made lifelong friends. Met her future husband, Melvin at UCLA and, after a short courtship, helped launch his first sporting goods store in Redondo Beach. They spent their life together in Beverly Hills before Mel’s passing in 2001. Ann proudly volunteered at the Helping Hand Gift Shop at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, running the jewelry department. Ann leaves a loving family, and lifelong friends, including her best friend Diane. Ann treasured her close ties to her Pittsburgh cousins, her fellow Pinemere campers, UCLA Sammys, Helping Hand volunteers, BHHS Normans, neighbors and Wilshire Blvd Temple families. Survivors include her sister Judy, sister-in-law Trina, sons David (Betsy) and Michael (Anne), grandchildren Andrew (Cindy), Alexandra (Austin), Camille and Maya, and great-grandchildren Lily and Otto Welch. Her family thanks her partner, Joe Tilem, hairdresser, Emily O’Hara (every Friday!), for their love and support, and a special thanks to her caregivers for all their help. Donations can be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and/or CureSearch for Children’s Cancer.
